RACE COMPETITION TEAM
|

Eligibility: Open to skiers ages 7-19 who can ski in control on advanced terrain. Mission: We use a team environment to assist junior racers to improve racing abilities and progress to higher skill and competitive levels. These athletes must also join USSA and SARA, our national and regional racing associations to race competitively in sanctioned regional racing events. Practices: Wednesdays from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.; Thursdays from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. to noon. One practice per week is required. Cost: Fees include a season pass (unlimited skiing) and coaching fees. There are additional fees for national and regional racing organization memberships.

SKI DEVELOPMENT TEAM

Eligibility: Open to skiers ages 7-16 who can ski in control on intermediate to advanced terrain. Mission: Through a team-oriented approach, we promote development of technical skiing skills. We encourage the development of life-long enjoyment in the sport of skiing. It is all about fun! Practices: Wednesdays from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.; Thursdays from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. to noon. One practice per week is required. Cost: Fees include a season pass (unlimited skiing) and coaching fees.

Massanutten Snowboard Teams

FREESTYLE TEAM

Eligibility: Open to snowboard athletes ages 7-16 who would like a freestyle training focus and can safely negotiate advanced terrain. Mission: Our coaches strive to help athletes develop proper freestyle technique in a team oriented program. In addition, we promote an understanding of and a respect for safety factors inherent in the sport of Freestyle. Practices: Wednesdays from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.; Thursdays from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. to noon. One practice per week is required. Cost: Fees include a season pass (unlimited snowboarding) and coaching fees.

RIDERS DEVELOPMENT TEAM

Eligibility: Open to snowboarders ages 7-16 who snowboard with skill on intermediate and advanced terrain. Mission: Through a team-oriented approach, we promote development of technical snowboarding skills. We encourage the development of life-long enjoyment in the sport of snowboarding and provide an introduction to freestyle training as the athletes progress. Practices: Wednesdays from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.; Thursdays from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. to noon. One practice per week is required. Cost: Fees include a season pass (unlimited snowboarding) and coaching fees.

All athletes must be independent lift riders. This requires the ability to independently load and unload, raise and lower the bar, and to safely ride with team members. All athletes must wear a helmet at all practices and competitions.
