Theo the Bear, Massanutten’s original Mascot, is thrilled to have his best friends at the resort to launch the new Mascot Academy! He loves all the remarkable experiences he has on the mountain can’t wait to share them with all of his friends.

Theo is a local black bear from the heart of Massanutten. Born in a cozy den on Massanutten Mountain, he grew up only a few miles from where he currently spends most of his time now. Theo is somewhat of an icon for Massanutten’s visitors of all ages, and he’s easy to spot with his favorite tie-dye shirt that he wears all the time. When he’s not at the resort with his friends, he enjoys the art of beekeeping (mainly because of his obsession for the sweet nectar that is honey) and finding the most pristine swimming holes in the mountain. He has a sweet tooth and is always hungry; you might see him eating berries that he harvests during his hikes. Theo is unlike most bears since he doesn’t like to hibernate. While you might not find him skiing or ice skating, you’ll probably see him hanging around the Family Adventure Park on sunny days.
