We Heard

We Heard

You spoke up and we listened. Below are some of the highlights of our Be Heard program.

Employee Comment: “I think Massanutten would greatly benefit from making some of the rental units pet friendly. A lot of the places that I have gone through RCI are pet-friendly.”
Response: “Thank you for the suggestion. This idea has been brought up many times over the years. It is currently in each of the owners association’s rules that we do not allow pets and the units have been sold as pet free. Dana is going to follow up with you to discuss. Thank you again!” – Mike Owens, Director of Hospitality Administration

Employee Comment: “To have bigger, better signs to direct guests to the bathrooms. The ones we have currently guests cannot see properly.”
Response: “George and Kay have already talked about this and it is now in the design stage.” – Dana Staniunas, Director of Recreation

Employee Comment: “It is my understanding that Sonos has been approved for the market. When can we expect it to be installed? We only have 2 working radio stations, and one is not P.G. Rated in the morning due to a talkshow.”
Response: “Good timing! It was just approved in capitals and will be installed soon.” – Sarah Elson, Director of Business Relations

Employee Comment: “Feed the cows. The horses have a great mound of hay to eat during the day. The cows get 1-2 bales of hay. These cows have no grass to eat during the day. So, the only thing they have is 1-2 bails and that does not last long.”
Response: “The cows were just sold, BUT, they were miniature Hereford's and the vet and the USDA inspector that monitors and inspects all the animals in the petting farm said the cows were obese.  Each bale weighs 50-70 lbs each, so they were getting plenty (too much) to eat.” – Mike Shiflet

Employee Comment: “Bring back the jalapeno poppers at the VA BBQ & Pizza Co. They were a great hit.”
Response: “Thank you for your suggestion and we will look at how we can fit it into the menu.” – Mark Litz

Employee Comment: “That WaterPark ticket prices should be posted with lodging especially when offering packages online. *8 general admission passes cost?”
Response: "This has been brought about by the transition to Inntopia. We are working on solutions for our "as low as” pricing descriptions. Thank you for bringing it up!” – Mike Owens, Director of Hospitality Administration

Employee Comment: “I have noticed the internal comment cards that are sent weekly have changed. The word "helpful” is used a lot. Our staff used to enjoy reading the comment cards, but I do have to agree with them that the comments just don't seem true after seeing the word "helpful” used numerous times week after week.”
Response: “We will keep the comment cards' comments as true to the original comment as possible. As you mentioned, providing our employees with authentic comments is a valuable tool to help our company succeed. Thank you for your comment.” – Dana Staniunas, Director of Recreation

Employee Comment: “Please replace the wooden shelf above the sink in the stockroom with a more cleanable material. (Plastic or etc.) Employees in our department use this shelf for food and beverages. It would be more hygienic to have cleanable surface.”
Response: “Good suggestion! We will replace the shelf.” – Sarah Elson, Director of Business Relations

Employee Comment: “The units need screen doors to the decks, so that our guests can enjoy the outdoor weather without bugs.”
Response: “Thank you for your suggestion. We have reviewed this several times in the past few years. We always had a problem with keeping them in good working order. Screen doors are easily broken and it is hard to get replacements. At this time we are saving our owners money by leaving them off. We will continue to review the comments to see what our guest say. Thank you.” – Mark Shiflet, Director of Facilities

Employee Comment: “I think we need exercise classes for employees (water aerobics, step aerobics, walking groups, etc) offered after 5pm. A personal trainer access to learn to use the equipment at the recreation centers. Walking groups that meet after work to meet new people and work out together or sign-ups for walking partners.”
Response: “Thank you for your suggestion. We currently offer Zumba three evening per week and employees are always welcome to join with a valid employee ID!  In the past, we offered 5:30 pm aerobics classes for guests and employees. Unfortunately, they were discontinued due to lack of interest. We will monitor the level of interest and may revisit your suggestion in the future.” – Jeff Reid, Director of Hospitality Operations

Employee Comment: “I think the resort should consider a day pass for the public to use the Woodstone or Le Club Recreation Centers. We get a lot of people who come into the spa who would like to enjoy the rec centers. This could generate revenue while benefiting the public.”
Response: "Thanks for the idea! MPOA Owners do have the option to purchase a membership to Le Club and or Woodstone, offers are a six month or annual membership, $260 or $475 for a family pass respectively. At this time an off-season pass1 has not been an option. The thought is the pass would have to have restrictions granting access to only non-holiday/non-peak seasons and the general public is not looking to utilize the facilities at that time. We also want to protect the value that our guests and owners receive by having access to these facilities." – Sarah Elson, Director of Business Relations

Employee Comment: “Exit interviews for all full time employees & part time employees that are vested and leave the company in good standing.”
Response: “Great idea. Our focus on training and retention is in the forefront for 2017. Pending discussion with the Exec Comm, guidelines will be set.” – Allison Thompson, Director of Human Resources

Employee Comment: “A video should be made explaining how to read and understand the features and benefits of the current "My Guide". It should be played in our guests’ rooms and the lobby. Our employees should also view this video. This would benefit both our guests and our employees.”
Response: “Very interesting idea! I can see what our options are for video. We could also incorporate a "how to" slide for the TV’s above the Front Desk.” – Jeff Reid, Director of Hospitality Operations

Employee Comment: “We should list the descriptions of our weekly entertainers on the posters inside of the lobby’s bulletin board area.”
Response: “Great idea. We can make that happen!” – Jeff Reid, Director of Hospitality Operations

Employee Comment: “On Sunday our restroom was out of order due to the handle being broken. We notified maintenance and it was fixed and operational within 30 minutes. Great Job!”
Response: “Thank you for your note. It is nice to get a "good job" from another department.” – Mark Shiflet, Director of Facilities
