NEW! The Knights of the Golden Horseshoe Escape Room
The Knights of the Golden Horseshoe Expedition, also known as the Transmontane Expedition,[1] took place in 1716 in the British Colony of Virginia. The Royal Governor and a number of prominent citizens traveled westward, across the Blue Ridge Mountains on an exploratory expedition. After the journey, each officer of the expedition received a stickpin made of gold and shaped like a horseshoe, thus giving them the title of "Knights of the Golden Horseshoe."
In the 1920s, Richard Fontaine, descendent of John Fontaine (the journalist who chronicled the Golden Knights expedition) built a secluded cabin on the side of Massanutten Mountain and rarely left. Richard was an eccentric recluse who spent life looking for the lost Golden Horseshoe badges. The cabin was passed down for generations, rarely used.
With the passing of time, and the expansion of Massanutten Resort around the cabin, the County has condemned the cabin as unsafe. And it’s slated for demolition in the morning!
One of Richard’s great-granddaughters, Rikki, believes that the mysterious recluse was up to something in that cabin, but could never figure out what. Today, she is looking for help to figure out the secrets of the cabin before it is too late!
