We’re making tracks on the national mountain bike scene. Massanutten has been steadily building a reputation for national caliber bike riding and racing. We’ve got a total of 30 miles of mountain bike trails on our Western Slope. Our blazed trails wind up and down wooded terrain, and are suitable for intermediate to advanced riders.

Access & Season Passes

Access & Season Passes

Please Note: Due to hunting season, the Western Slope trails are closed from one hour before sunrise to one hour after sunset Monday - Saturday from November 1 – January 8 except on Sundays.

 

Access Rules

  • Gold Card & MPOA property owners with valid ID) and up to three guests.
  • Guests must be accompanied by the property owner while using the Western Slope.
  • Full-time employee with valid ID (IRS dependent privileges).
  • Part-time employee passholder (no guest privileges).
  • RCI exchange, non-gold card owners, and their guests (during week of stay only).
  • Shenandoah Valley Bicycle Coalition (SVBC) members with a current Western Slope pass.
  • All dogs must be on a leash and owners must pack out their dog’s waste.
  • Horses are not permitted on the Western Slope.
  • Bag your trash (pack in, pack out).
  • Please close all gates.
  • No open fires (unless authorized by Resort Security Office).
  • Persons on Massanutten property without proper permits or valid ID is trespassing.
  • For information on obtaining a pass, go to: Shenandoah Valley Bicycle Coalition.

Permits and identification must be carried on person at all times and must be presented if requested by Great Eastern Resort Management/Resort Security/Property Agent, local law enforcement, or a representative. Persons without proper permits and identification will be asked to leave the property and could be charged with trespassing. Access is at the discretion of Great Eastern Resort Management and may be restricted, withheld, or terminated at any time without notice.

Passes for the Western Slope may be obtained online from the Shenandoah Valley Bicycle Coalition. Day and week passes may also be purchased at the Massanutten Bike Shop. Purchase a 2024 Western Slope Shuttle Only Season Pass here.

Want to experience the Western Slope trails without as much climbing? Check out our new Western Slope shuttle service!

Hours

  • Fridays & Saturdays | 10 am - 4 pm
  • Hours are weather dependent. *Bonus days will be added when and if we can!
  • Shuttle NOT available on April 27 & May 4 due to races on the Western Slope.

  • $50 All-Day Pass | Unlimited shuttle rides
  • $10 A La Carte | Per shuttle ride

Meet us on the gravel road by the pavilion on the Western Slope with your bike and we’ll take you to the top of the overlook so you can head towards Kaylor’s Knob or Puzzler. Don’t want something quite that technical? We can also drop you off at Point C/Special K trail crossing for access to the pink and yellow loops as well as most of the middle trails (Click to View Western Slope Trail Map). After we turn the shuttle around we’ll head back to the pavilion and pick you up for another lap. The shuttle will depart from the pavilion every hour on the hour for another lap.

The shuttle will be one of our smaller shuttle vehicles or our new shuttle trailer depending on the number of riders that day.

Cross-country bike rental includes a helmet. Our cross-country rental bikes are not suited nor permitted in the Bike Park.
*Renter is responsible for all damage done to bike while it is in their possession unless insurance is purchased at the time of the rental. Massanutten's Mountain Bike Shop rentals and shuttles are available from April - October. Please call 540.289.4957 for additional info.
 

NEW! E-Bikes

We now have pedal-assist E-mountain bikes! Take all the work out of climbing the mountain. These bikes will pedal assist you up to 20mph. These bikes are not allowed on the lifts but you may ride the Bike Park trails (Bike Park Trail-Use ticket required), Western Slope trails, and on the Resort’s roads and parking lots.

Want to go for an ebike ride but you’re not sure where to start? Why not try one of our ebike tours!
We offer a variety of ebike tour options to get you out on the mountain- One hour bike park tour- If you’re short on time and want to try some ebiking we offer a one hour tour around our beginner bike park trails with a guide.

Looking for something longer? More scenic? More variety? We offer 1.5 and 2.5 hour ebike tour options on our Western Slope trails. Massanutten’s Western Slope trails feature over 30 miles of trails that range from gentle gravel roads and gentle singletrack all the way to fast and technical trails with all kinds of ride possibilities so you can have a fun day out.

All ebike tours start with some MTB and ebike basics to get you comfortable and confident on the ebike as well as personalized instruction along the way as needed.

Available Tuesdays & Wednesdays @ 10 am

2 person minimum. 5 person group max. Please call 540.289.4957 to book. Limited availability. Riders must be 12+ Maximum participant weight of 300lbs. Reservations must be made 48 hours in advance.

  • $65 | 1.5 hour tour on the Western Slope trails
  • $100 | 2.5 hour tour on the Western Slope trails with snacks at the pond
  • $50 | 1 hour tour on low side trails in the Bike Park

Bike Transportation Service

We will take you, your party, and your bikes to and/or from the Western Slope. Rates include Western Slope map. Maximum 7 persons per shuttle. *This is simply a shuttle to and/or from the western slope.

  • One-Way Shuttle: $10 | Up to 4 persons (each additional person: $2)
  • Two-Way Shuttle: $15 | Up to 4 persons (each additional person: $3)

In addition to renting bikes and protective equipment, our bike center offers on-the-spot repair services for minor mechanical issues. Our goal is to get your previously functioning bike back out on the trails as soon as possible. Our services include flat tire repair, wheel truing, derailleur / brake adjustment, and cable / chain installation. We are not able to offer major mechanical rehabilitation, special ordered items, bike overhauls, restoration, suspension work, tune-up packages, or any other major repair services.

For more extensive repairs we recommend visiting one of the many full-service bike shops in Harrisonburg; just 30 minutes from the resort.

Who qualifies? | Groups of 10 or more people.

Available Days: Available 7 days a week. Available for both the Mountain Bike Park and the Western Slope.
