Resort ID required when purchasing permit or renting equipment.

Things to Know

Fishing Rules & Regulations

Persons allowed to fish:

  • All Gold Card Holders with valid ID.
  • Anyone with a recreation pass and a Fishing Permit.
  • When a Fishing Permit is required, it applies to all ages.

Rules and Policies:

  • All persons fishing must have and show correct ID and valid State or County fishing license except those exempt under State Law.
  • Only 1 fishing pole per person is allowed by law.
  • Fishing is allowed year-round between the hours of one hour before sunrise and one hour after sunset.
  • Pond Locations: Painters Pond on Palmer Road, and Hopkins Pond below the Gate House.
  • Virginia State fishing licenses and Fishing Permits are available year-round at The Market, behind the Woodstone Check-in Center, and during spring, summer and fall at The General Store, beside the Ski Lodge. 
  • Observe NO FISHING signs when posted.
  • No Boating / No Swimming / No Wading.
  • ANY AND ALL OTHER STATE LAWS APPLY.
  • NO FISHING AT ANY WOODSTONE POND
