Fall in the Shenandoah Valley invites you to enjoy the season at a different pace, with crisp mountain mornings and brilliant color. This seven-day itinerary moves between days exploring the Valley and time closer to the mountain, where spa treatments, golf, and a glass of local wine make the season feel especially indulgent. It’s a full week with room to follow whatever sounds good to you. Use this itinerary as is to plan your getaway, or use it as inspiration to create a fall week that feels like your own.
Welcome to Massanutten! Once you’ve checked in and settled into your accommodations, begin the week with a scenic chairlift ride above the changing leaves. Enjoy the vibrant mountain and Shenandoah Valley views, then settle in at Campfire Grill for dinner.
If the weather is crisp and clear, grab a seat outside by the fire on the deck and enjoy your first fall evening on the mountain.

Ease into the morning at The Spa at Massanutten with a massage, facial, body treatment, or a couples massage together. Settle into the quiet spa setting, slow the pace for a while, and enjoy a little uninterrupted time together before heading out for lunch on-site.
Later, settle in at Perfect Break for a round of virtual golf in one of the Topgolf Swing Suites. Order something to share, enjoy table service and drinks, and add a little friendly competition to an otherwise relaxed afternoon.
As evening rolls around, stop at Elevations Cocktail Lounge for a signature cocktail. From there, follow the night wherever it leads, whether that’s live music at Base Camp, a comedy show, karaoke, or another seasonal event happening around the mountain.
Spend the day exploring Shenandoah National Park along Skyline Drive, where autumn color stretches across the Blue Ridge. Stop at overlooks along the way, then bundle up for a shorter hike and experience the changing leaves from the trail.
Afterward, stop for lunch in nearby Elkton or continue into Harrisonburg before returning to Massanutten.
Start the morning with a Massanutten Select class and choose an experience that speaks to you, whether that’s yoga, pottery making, canvas painting, a build-your-own terrarium workshop, or a relaxing sound bath.
Grab lunch on-site, then spend the afternoon on a guided horseback ride through Massanutten’s wooded trails and open mountain scenery. Ride beneath the changing canopy and take in the fall mountain views from the saddle.
Tonight, pick up something to cook in your condo and enjoy dinner with the autumn scenery just outside before settling in for a game or movie night.
Spend the day exploring the Shenandoah Valley’s craft beverage scene during one of the most beautiful times of year. Start at CrossKeys Vineyards with a tasting and Blue Ridge views, then continue into downtown Harrisonburg for cider at Sage Bird Ciderworks or a craft beer at Pale Fire Brewing Co. Stay downtown for dinner and make an evening of it before heading back to the mountain.
Spend the morning on one of Massanutten’s two 18-hole championship golf courses, Mountain Greens or Woodstone Meadows. Tee off surrounded by fall color and mountain views, then stop by Bogey’s Snack Bar for a casual bite after your round.
Later, trade the fairways for a quieter afternoon at Painter’s Pond. Cast a few lines together from the water’s edge, or check the schedule for a fly-fishing experience and learn a few basic techniques with equipment included. With the pond tucked into the mountain scenery and fall color all around, it’s an easy change of pace after a morning on the course.
For dinner, revisit a favorite on-site restaurant from the week, whether that’s Base Camp for casual mountain fare and relaxed views or Campfire Grill for wood-fired favorites and a seat outside by the fire.
Take one last walk along one of Massanutten’s shorter nature trails and enjoy the crisp fall air and changing leaves before checking out. If your route takes you through Elkton or Harrisonburg, stop for brunch or lunch in the Valley.
