Winter nights at Massanutten bring a little extra energy, from tubing under the lights to full days on the slopes and a warm-up at the Indoor WaterPark. This family itinerary is built around getting out, trying something new, and experiencing winter on the mountain together. Use this itinerary as is to plan your getaway, or use it as inspiration to build your own family winter adventure.
Evening: Snow Tubing After Dark
Welcome to Massanutten! Once you’re settled in, bundle up and head straight for the tubing hill. Race the family down 900 feet of illuminated, snow-covered lanes, then hop on the conveyor lift for an easy ride back to the top and another run.
Dinner: Base Camp or Campfire Grill
Choose between two great dinner spots near the ski area: Base Camp for casual mountain fare and a front-row view of the action on the slopes, or Campfire Grill for wood-fired pizza, burgers, and other hearty favorites in a warm, rustic setting.

Morning: Skiing & Snowboarding
Fuel up with a delicious breakfast at Massanutten's Waffle Hut at Base Camp, then head to the slopes for a full day of skiing or snowboarding. First-timers can build confidence on beginner terrain while more experienced family members explore farther across the mountain. Kids ages 7 to 12 who are new to skiing or snowboarding can also join Theo’s Cub Club, which combines a two-hour beginner group lesson with equipment rentals and four hours of slope access. Kids 6 and under ski free, making it easier to get the youngest skiers in the family out on the snow too.
Afternoon: More Time on the Slopes
Take a break for lunch at Mid-Mountain Grill, then head back out for an afternoon of exploring more of the mountain, revisiting favorite runs, and making the most of your day on the slopes.
Evening: Winter Entertainment
After a full day outside, warm up with dinner and see what’s happening around the resort. If your stay includes a Friday night, check the schedule for the Friday night torch parade, when a torch-lit procession makes its way down the slopes after dark. On other evenings, look for live music, comedy, or other seasonal entertainment.
Before Checkout: Indoor Waterpark
Trade the snow for a little endless summer with a final morning at the Indoor Waterpark. Splash through the slides and indoor attractions, or add a little more adventure with a FlowRider lesson and see who in the family can find their balance on the wave.
