Spring brings a different kind of energy to the mountain, perfect for couples who want a little adventure in their getaway. This three-day itinerary pairs horseback riding, mountain biking, and hiking with dinner on the mountain, an evening in Harrisonburg, and one final ride on the Mountain Mayhem Mountain Coaster. Use this itinerary as is to plan your getaway, or use it as inspiration to build your own spring adventure.
Afternoon: Horseback Ride
Welcome to Massanutten! Once you’ve checked in and settled into your accommodations, start the weekend with a one-hour guided trail ride around the base of Massanutten Mountain. Woodstone Meadows Stable’s gentle, trail-wise horses make the experience approachable even for newer riders, with guides providing instruction before and during the ride. Reservations are required, so be sure to book ahead, especially during busier times.
Dinner: Campfire Grill
Afterward, settle in at Campfire Grill for wood-fired pizza, steaks, burgers, and other hearty favorites. Pair dinner with a signature cocktail or local craft beer, and, if the spring weather is nice, grab a seat outside by the fire on the deck.

Morning: Mountain Biking
Start the morning at the Massanutten Bike Park and spend a few hours exploring the mountain on two wheels. Newer riders can build confidence on more approachable terrain or join a group lesson, while experienced riders can take on lift-served downhill trails and more technical terrain.
Grab lunch on-site before heading back outside for the afternoon.
Afternoon: Hiking
Trade two wheels for hiking boots and explore more of Massanutten on foot. Choose a trail that fits the afternoon, then climb through fresh spring greenery and wooded mountain scenery for a different look at the resort beyond the bike trails.
Evening: Downtown Harrisonburg
After a full day outside, make the evening about good food and drinks in downtown Harrisonburg. Stop for a craft beer at Pale Fire Brewing Co. or cider at Sage Bird Ciderworks, then grab dinner at a local favorite like Jack Brown’s Beer & Burger Joint or Bella Luna Wood-Fired Pizza before returning to the mountain.
Before Checkout: Mountain Mayhem Mountain Coaster
Finish the weekend with one more rush on the Mountain Mayhem Mountain Coaster. If your route home takes you through Harrisonburg, stop for brunch or lunch and stretch the getaway just a little longer before the drive home.
